In 2020 the Maine Downtown Center picked three towns to participate in their Entrepreneurship grant pilot program, Monson being one and Lisbon and Skowhegan being the others. The grant amount of $70,000 paid out in increments, is designated to help each community development or continue its efforts at building a network of support for potential and growing entrepreneurs in town.
Another facet of the grant is that each town worked with Matt Wagner, of the National Downtown Center, to identify the town and regions resources for entrepreneurs. From this work Matt wrote a report based on the data and ways the community can move forward.
