Special Town Meeting Warrant
March 28, 2024
To Jade Grenier or any other resident in the Town of Monson, in the County of Piscataquis and the State of Maine
Greetings:
In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town of Monson, in the said county and state, qualified by law to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Monson Gym, in said town, on Thursday the 28th day of March 2024 A.D. at Six O clock in the evening then and there to act on the following articles to wit:
Article 1
To choose a Moderator and to preside at said meeting and to be voted by written ballot.
Article 2
To choose One, Selectperson, Assessor, Overseer of the Poor Term Expires 2026, to be voted by written ballot.
** Voting will begin at 8 am on Thursday March 28, 2024, at the town office. Final votes will be collected and counted, and the results will be announced at 6:00 pm.
Article 3
To consider taking up to $12,000 from the Municipal Building Reserve Account to install a larger overhead door on the Fire Station.
The Registrar will be open regular office hours, Thursday, March 28, 2024 for the purpose of correcting the list of voters. You must be a registered voter of the town to vote at the Town meeting.

Finn Contra Dance - Saturday, March 23rd, 2024
"Dust off your dancing shoes and come to the Monson Gym on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 6:30-9:00pm for a Finn Contra Dance. Musicians Alexander and Kermit Bennett, Stuart Moore along with members of Some Reel People will be playing our favorite Finn tunes and Contra dance music. Allison Aldrich Smith will teach and call the contra dances.
A donation of $8 is suggest with the proceeds going to the Monson Finn Hall.
Refreshments (Bullas) will be served.
Bring your family and friends for an evening of dancing and listening to some great upbeat music!"

C.H. Lightbody Municipal Center
Androscoggin Bank provides banking services to the Town of Monson and to many private individuals in Monson. John Simko at Androscoggin Bank has invited us to the opening of their new business development office at the C.H. Lightbody Municipal Center in Guilford, Maine, from 4:30-6:30 on Thursday, January 18. The ribbon cutting will take place at 5:30 pm. See the flyer here

A special election for the Select Board Position will be held on February 8th in the Meeting Room at the Town Office from 8am-6pm

New Year’s Day Bonfire & Celebration
Please join us on January 1st, New Year’s Day at 4pm for dinner, door prizes, and a bonfire! Dinner is by donation at the Monson Gymansium. Food and drink will be provided by Turning Page Farm & Brewery, Lakeshore House, The Quarry, Pleasant and Center Catering, The General Store, Robinsons, and Spring Creek Bar-B-Q. Monson Collaborative members will be available to answer any questions!!

Planning Board Meeting
The Planning Board will be meeting on Tuesday, December 12th at 5:30pm in the Co-Working Space/Old Library behind the Town Office.
TOWN OFFICE HOLIDAY CLOSINGS
The Town Office will be closed at noon on Friday, December 22nd. We will be closed all day on Tuesday, December 26th and Tuesday, January 2nd for the holidays.

DOG REGISTRATIONS
FRIENDLY REMINDER:
PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR DOGS MUST BE LICENSED BY DECEMBER 31ST OR THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL $25 FEE PER DOG ISSUED BY THE STATE.
Closer to the holidays we will be closed during some regular business days so please plan accordingly - we cannot waive the state fee.
Kris Kringle Fair - Saturday, December 2, 2023
Christmas is just around the corner and those special, unique items for everyone on the gift list could be at Monson's Annual Kris Kringle Market on Saturday, December 2nd 2023 at the Monson Gym from 9am to 3pm.
Kris Kringle's Market will open with a variety of crafts such as folk art, fabric items, knitted items, homemade food, wreaths, jewelry, wooden items and more!
The market committee will be serving lunch starting at 11am. There will be cookie decorating for the kids from 12-12:30pm and Santa Claus arrives at 1pm for the youngsters and young-at-heart.
All entries for the gingerbread house contest must be at the gym by 10am. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three creative and well-crafted entries.
A holiday village will be created with the entries and the theme for this year's competition is "A Winter Wonderland". Gingerbread contest rules can be found on the Town of Monson's website/Facebook page.
The Kris Kringle committee will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets and door prizes will be awarded hourly. For further information call Annalee Libby at 997-3268 or email her at libby04406@gmail.com.
